The University of Reading has a responsibility, to all users of its estates and buildings, that construction and maintenance work is carried out by competent professionals, in a safe and considerate manner. It is the responsibility of Estates and Facilities to manage these obligations on behalf of the University.
A principal duty of University Project Managers is to deliver customer projects safely, on time, to budget and to University and customers' quality standards.
Statutory and University requirements
But our role extends far beyond just delivering your work. We are also responsible for ensuring that statutory obligations and University requirements are properly fulfilled. This can include:
- maintaining the asbestos register
- maintaining the master drawing database
- updating space management information
- updating asset management information
- undertaking building and planning conditions
- meeting our Construction Design Management obligations
By undertaking these roles Estates and Facilities ensures the University not only meets its statutory duties, but also manages the delivery of projects in a consistent manner.
