COSHH Risk Assessment

The aim of this course is to enable anyone who works with chemicals, such as those working in laboratories or staff working with cleaning chemicals, to recognise and assess the risks associated with the chemicals they use.

AIMS:

During this session we will:

  • Introduce you to the COSHH regulations
  • Familiarise you with the hazardous substance definitions and Safety Data Sheets
  • Apply the hierarchy of control to chemical hazards

OBJECTIVES - ON RETURNING TO THE WORKPLACE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

  • Understand the nature of exposure to hazardous substances
  • Identify the requirements of COSHH Regulations
  • Carry out a risk assessment using the hierarchy of control

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:

  • Any member of staff who works with chemicals and needs to either write or understand a risk assessment
  • Any manager or supervisor responsible for overseeing work with chemicals
