Nicholas Michael
Technical Expert - Research Facility
Responsibilities
After a couple of years performing DNA crime scene sample analysis I went travelling around the world. Upon my return I started my first mass spectrometry role in a protein and peptide analysis laboratory at the London Research Institute of CRUK. That nine months maternity cover turned into seven years and the basis of a career that I have found highly rewarding and challenging in almost equal measures. I left CRUK and worked in the private sector for a major biopharmaceutical manufacturer and then went on to set up a biopharmaceutical analysis department for a local CRO.
I joined the University in October 2014 as the Mass Spectrometry Technical Expert which involves me analysing a wide variety of samples and training staff and students on the theory and technical aspects of mass spectrometry and associated techniques.
