Career history

I have worked in graphics and archaeological illustration for almost 20 years, and started my career as a field archaeologist after graduating from a degree in Archaeology at Durham University. I teach Illustration of artefacts for the Part 2 Archaeology module; Artefacts in Archaeology, and I also teach students on a one to one basis and supervise graphics placements. I enjoy working on departmental excavations, such as the Inner Hebrides Mesolithic Project and have been a supervisor at the Archaeology Field School, formerly on the Silchester Town Life Project, since 1998.

I have worked full time for the University of Reading since September 2011. Prior to this, I worked for Oxford Archaeology , starting as a field archaeologist, and culminating as the Senior Illustrator for Oxford Archaeology. During this time I was lead illustrator in a number of large publications, including the Thames Through Time series (which was a finalist in the British Archaeological Book of the Year awards), and Under the Oracle.
