Dr Susanna Cogo
Areas of interest
Susanna’s research is focused on dissecting the cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and the interplay of aging and disease, exploiting behavioural, cellular and biochemical assays.
Current projects include:
- Modelling Parkinson’s disease and other complex disorders using cellular and in vivo C. elegans models.
- The role of lysosomal dysfunction in neurodegeneration.
- Targeting shared mechanisms of aging and disease.
Teaching
Susanna is involved in teaching at Undergraduate level, with a focus on Cell Biology and Neuroscience.
- Module co-convenor of Human Reproduction and Development in Health and Disease (Part 1).
- Teaches on several modules including Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life (Part 1), Medical Genetics (Part 2) and Neuroscience (Part 3).
