Step 1: The work request: The briefing process
Before we undertake any work it is clearly crucial that we thoroughly understand your needs and expectations.
Straightforward work
For simple, straightforward work – such as a new power socket & data port, moving pipework or painting a wall – we are happy to receive a Wren (work request) that describes your requirements. This description, together with an initial meeting with a Project Manager, may be sufficient for us to proceed. The Project Manager will confirm your expectations by email, or develop – with your approval – a detailed TPE outlining the work, timescales and costs.
More complex work
For more complex work, where options and the project approach needs much more consideration, we have developed a briefing document to assist us to collate your initial thoughts on your requirements. It also makes sure that we ask you about factors that we must take into account.
The Project Manager will be happy to assist you with this process, to ensure that we have captured all the relevant information. It is very important that we reach agreement with you as to exactly what you require from us.
For these more complex types of work we are able to present you with a more detailed summary of costs sheet.
Changes
It is worth remembering that any significant changes after the scope of work has been agreed can have a major impact on both cost and completion.
