Reading Excellence Scholarship
We offer a number of scholarships worth £5,000 for students starting an International Foundation Programme (IFP) or International Foundation Year (IFY) in 2026/27.
If you hold an offer for an IFP or IFY, you may be eligible to apply for this scholarship.

Deadlines
- Round one: 19 May 2026 (for September 2026 entry)
- Round two: 14 July 2026 (for September 2026 entry)
- Round three: 16 November (for January 2027 entry)

Key information
- To apply for funding, you must have received an offer to join an IFP or IFY course in the academic year 2026/27.
- The scholarship application form will be made available to eligible students via the Me@Reading applicant portal. You will be able to access it until the closing date.
- The scholarship will take the form of a tuition fee reduction of £5,000 for the IFP/IFY year of study.
- The University must classify you as an international student for fee purposes.
- Scholarships are awarded primarily based on previous academic accomplishment.

International Foundation Flight Ticket Incentive 2026/27
The University of Reading is offering a flight ticket incentive for eligible international students joining the September 2026 intake of the International Foundation Programme or International Foundation Year.
Two successful applicants will receive:
• reimbursement of the cost of one single standard economy flight ticket to the UK, arriving at London Heathrow Airport or London Gatwick Airport only, up to a maximum value of £1,000
• reimbursement of the cost of one airport transfer from London Heathrow Airport or London Gatwick Airport only, up to a maximum value of £150
To apply, students must:
• be a self funded international student
• have accepted their offer
• have paid their tuition fee deposit by 13 July 2026
• submit an application form
• submit a video explaining why they have chosen the University of Reading for foundation study
Students may submit their video by uploading the file directly, sharing a cloud storage link, or providing a YouTube link.

• only eligible students will be considered
• sponsored students are not eligible
• students in receipt of any other University of Reading scholarship, bursary, discount, fee reduction, or financial incentive, including the International Foundation Excellence Scholarship, are not eligible
• this is a reimbursement based incentive only
