Ethics; History of Philosophy (especially Kant and Post-Kantian European philosophy); Philosophy of Mind/Psychology; Philosophy of Race (especially Fanon); Metaphysics; Philosophy of ReligionPostgraduate supervision
I have supervised students at undergraduate and graduate levels with dissertation topics in ethics, topics across post-Kantian and 20th century European philosophy, political philosophy, the metaphysics of agency, methods of genealogy, metaphysics of race, early modern philosophy, especially Spinoza, social philosophy (including theories of recognition and punishment), and the later Wittgenstein. I would be happy to supervise on these topics again. Background
I am pleased to join the University of Reading as a Lecturer in Philosophy. I am also Lecturer in European Philosophy at Birkbeck, University of London, where I have taught since 2023. Before that, I was Postdoctoral Fellow for the British Society for the History of Philosophy.
While my philosophical training has been grounded in the so-called ‘analytic’ tradition, much of my research has been at the interfaces of theories of agency, ethics and philosophy of psychology with the contributions of historical thinkers within the post-Kantian tradition, broadly construed. I am currently writing a book on Nietzsche for Cambridge University Press.
