School policies and support
In addition to University wide support for staff, the School has a number of policies designed to support staff in probation, progression and promotion.
Mentorship
SPPE is committed to supporting and developing its staff, and we offer a variety of mentorship schemes.
Staff new to academic posts are provided with a mentor in their Department. New staff are also supported through their probationary period (usually 3 years) by one or more general mentors.
Staff considering promotion are provided with a specialist mentor, and mentorship is also available for grant applications and research activities.
We also offer a bespoke mentorship scheme within the School. It is an optional, flexible scheme for staff at all career stages who would benefit from guidance and support either with regards to a specific aspect of their professional development or for more general professional advice.
