This beginner’s module provides an introduction to French, concentrating on its use in familiar, everyday situations.

French Stage 1 module description

French Stage 2

This post-beginner module will equip you to cope in common everyday situations using mainly the present tense. It includes revision of the basic grammar necessary for a sound foundation in the language.

French Stage 2 module description

French Stage 3

In this intermediate module, you’ll strengthen your grasp of core grammar, develop essential vocabulary, and practise communicating clearly in everyday and straightforward formal situations.

French Stage 3 module description

French Stage 4

In this advanced module, you’ll work with a wider range of genres, registers and contemporary texts, using more sophisticated grammar and vocabulary.

You’ll improve fluency in both spoken and written French through grammar work, extended writing, oral presentations, and discussion of cultural and societal issues in French‑speaking countries.

This advanced module develops your ability to understand and produce complex spoken and written French through grammar work, guided and free writing, and discussion of contemporary French‑language materials.

You’ll explore a wide range of genres and registers while strengthening fluency.

Our most advanced French module deepens your command of French through sophisticated writing, debate, and analysis of authentic texts.

You’ll also develop advanced skills in translating both into and out of French.
