Areas of interest
Rav’s research and scholarship interests lie in Pharmacy Education, in particular Standard Setting, Interprofessional Education (IPE), Equality and Diversity and Wellbeing and Welfare.Background
Having qualified as a Pharmacist and annotated to the register, Rav has worked in Community Pharmacy. Rav is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and in his current role as the University of Reading, School of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy, Director of Teaching and Learning, he leads the University’s aims for teaching and learning. He develops and takes responsibility for the School of Pharmacy’s teaching enhancement plans, teaching and learning strategy and all associated policies, with a particular focus on implementation.
Taking overall responsibility for the quality management and enhancement in the School, he provides leadership in the teaching, learning and assessment in the taught programmes of the School. Rav promotes and disseminates good practice in the School with a particular passion for OSCEs, Interprofessional Education (IPE), Equality and Diversity and Wellbeing and Welfare.
Rav has an active membership on numerous committees and as part of his role he chairs the School’s Teaching Enhancement Planning Group and is an active member on the School Management Board. Working closely with the Directors of Teaching and Learning and Programme Directors, Rav leads on, disseminates and has oversight of quality assurance processes and procedures. He supports and delivers the University’s procedures relating to student Academic Misconduct, Academic Engagement, Fitness to Study and Fitness to Practice. Rav leads on the School’s disciplinary matters and chairs the University Student Discipline Committee. He works closely with academics and support staff throughout the School to uphold the high-quality standards for teaching, learning and assessment.
