Support and Training
Support and tools
If you are unsure whether export controls may apply to your research and innovation project, you can speak to your usual Research Services contact who will direct your query to the appropriate person or you can email exportcontrol@reading.ac.uk with any queries. We may ask for further information on the project in order to fully identify the risks.
There is a checklist that staff can complete to help assess whether export controls may be applicable and staff can also use the Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) Goods Checker to determine if their technology is on the consolidated list of strategic military or dual-use items that require export control authorisation.
Training
For further information on how best to prepare and complete the Checklist for Researchers, the University can provide training and awareness raising sessions for Schools across the University. This training will provide an introduction to export controls and information on what researchers will need to do if licences will be required. Please contact Research Services through your Research Development Manager if you wish to have a session in your subject area.
The University also has access to online export control training courses through the Higher Education Export Control Association (HEECA). To register for the training course, please contact this email address to request access.
