Building the University

The Project Department consists of a multi-disciplinary group of project managers. They manage a wide range of construction and maintenance related projects, costing a few hundred pounds to several million. They are responsible for delivering on the projects' objectives, to an agreed quality, time and cost through careful planning, monitoring and control of all aspects of the work.

We liaise closely with external consultants, advisers, statutory authorities, and specialist internal departments. Some external professional design consultants and contractors have contracted to a formal Partnering Framework Agreement.

The Strategic Project Development team coordinates the master planning strategy of development across all campuses, including residential, academic and commercial properties, carries out feasibility studies on key development opportunities, and integrates infrastructure development in line with the estates master plan strategy.

The Communications Infrastructure team deals with all data and telephone cabling matters throughout the University and has recently completed a million pound campus-wide WiFi project.
