Choosing the right programme for you

International Foundation Programme (IFP)

The standard IFP programme has two entry points - September and January - both options provide the same quality and benefits.

The IFP offers a pathway to a wide range of undergraduate degrees, including law, computer science, quantity surveying, and many more. You will be taught from day one by subject experts in the University of Reading, as well as having access to individual tutorial support from the IFP team.

Students wishing to progress onto a science degree will need to take the IFP September start. We also offer a wide range of integrated four-year degree programmes combining a foundation year with a three-year undergraduate course.

International Foundation Programme (IFP), September start

The IFP September start is our standard International Foundation Programme, which runs from September and guarantees you the opportunity of a place on any undergraduate degree at the University of Reading with the exception of Henley Business School degrees, arts and media degrees and some Institute of Education degrees.

Students applying for the September IFP, with Pharmacy as their intended future degree, must apply by the deadline of 29 January 2025. We will be operating a gathered field approach, and will review all applications after this date and issue offers to the strongest candidates. This does not affect applications with any other future degree course selected.

International Foundation Programme (IFP), January start

The IFP January start runs from January to August enabling you to start your undergraduate degree in September of the same year.

Progression degrees include: Quantity Surveying, International Development, History, Geography and many more, with the exception of Henley Business School degrees, arts and media degrees and some Institute of Education degrees.

If you are a Science or Mathematics student you should apply for the September IFP.

Integrated four-year degree programmes with foundation year

These four-year degree programmes begin in September or January for some degrees, and combine a foundation year (Year 0) with your chosen three-year undergraduate degree. This enables you to apply for a single four-year visa that covers the whole duration of your studies.
