There are two different scholarships available.

Firstly, there is the Country Scholarship for all students from a large number of specific countries. Then there is the IFP Ambassador Scholarship that any student can apply for. If you have a Country Scholarship, you may also apply for an Ambassador Scholarship.

Both scholarships are worth a £3,000 discount on tuition fees. In addition, students applying for an integrated four-year degrees with International Foundation Year can apply for the Vice Chancellor Global Scholarship Award. Information on this scholarship can be found on our undergraduate scholarships page

If you are an IFP applicant who is excited about studying at the University of Reading in the UK and are happy to share your experience with a wider audience through social media  and creating content like videos and photos for the IFP, then you should apply for the IFP Ambassador Scholarship. The scholarship will provide a £3,000 discount of tuition fees for the IFP year and is open for all non-sponsored international fee paying students to apply.

The number of scholarships available is limited and so you will need to submit a scholarship application. This application will involve submitting a 3000 character essay explaining your suitability as an IFP Ambassador. Being an IFP Ambassador involves upholding the values of the programme through high academic engagement and may involve taking part in promotional activities telling prospective students about the experience of being on the IFP.

How to apply

To apply for the IFP Ambassador Scholarship, students will need to have applied for a place on the IFP and accepted their offer.

Application submission deadlines:

  • If you apply through UCAS - the final application deadline is 30 June 2024.
  • All other applicants should apply in time to arrange a visa, though we continue to accept direct IFP applications up until enrolment.
The University of Reading IFP Ambassador Scholarship scheme does not award Scholarships in order of application and does not start the selection process until after the closing date.

To apply for the IFP Ambassador Scholarship, first, you need to apply to the IFP. Please read our information on How to apply for an IFP

If you already applied and have an offer for a place on the IFP,  you can apply for the IFP Ambassador Scholarship through the Me@reading Applicant portal.

Country-specific scholarships

Applicants paying international tuition fees, from the countries below, will receive an IFP Scholarship applied as a discount to their tuition fees. Look at the country-specific information below to check your eligibility for an IFP Scholarship.

How will I receive the Scholarship?

The Scholarship is automatically applied as a discount to the international tuition fees of eligible students for the foundation year only.

To receive the Scholarship discount, applicants must accept their IFP offer and enrol on their chosen IFP course.

If you are a sponsored student and a separate discount on tuition fees has been agreed between the sponsor and the University of Reading, then only one discount or scholarship will apply and this will be whichever discount is to the highest value.

  • Middle Eastern countries: Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Yemen
