Many students on our professional development courses and visiting student programme choose to stay with a carefully selected local host family.

The International Study and Language Institute at the University of Reading has a network of host families who offer accommodation to visiting international students and educational providers who are undertaking short courses.

We look for hosts who live within walking distance or a short bus ride from the University.

Our hosts are paid a competitive rate for providing accommodation to our participants.

If you are interested in becoming a host family or would like further information, please contact Louise Crompton by telephone: 0118 378 5768 or email: islishortcourses@reading.ac.uk.

International professional development courses

If you work in education, our professional development courses can help you in the areas of teaching English as a second or foreign language, writing and publishing English, university leadership, and university services.

Visiting Student Programme

If your students are interested in experiencing life in a UK university, we can design a bespoke course for you.

Our courses aim to improve your students' English language skills, introduce them to British culture and give them the opportunity to study specific university subjects.
