The Transferable Academic Skills Kit (TASK) is a series of study skills textbooks created by members of the academic staff of the International Foundation Programme at the University of Reading.
This successful series is now in its second edition (2015), published by Garnet Education, a division of Garnet Publishing.
The TASK learning materials benefit from the International Foundation Programme's thirty years of experience in meeting the educational needs of international students. It is a flexible learning resource that has been carefully designed to develop the key transferable skills which promote students' success in university and college-based study. Aimed at students or teachers, the TASK series provides a tried and tested teaching and learning tool suitable for a broad range of academic disciplines and forms a part of the University's academic skills provision for home and international students at all levels.
A series of supported exercises relates theory to practice and provides students with the tools to develop a framework of skills that can then be used in a broad range of contexts both inside and outside the academic world.
TASK learning materials can be followed as a complete course or, alternatively, individual modules may be selected to address specific needs. The twelve titles in the series are available separately or as a boxed set.
A teacher's book is also available.
