Academic Liaison and Study Advice, Library

The Academic Liaison and Study Advice teams within the Library provide support for students in areas related to information literacy, finding and using information, and academic skills such as time management and use of digital tools to support learning. Both teams can also support module convenors with embedded sessions and provision of online resources to support skills development.

Careers

The Careers Service provides mentoring and support to students, including a range of in-person events, webinars, 1-1 appointments. Careers also manage the University's RED Award: a skills development programme to support students' skills development and employability during their studies.

CQSD TEL (Technology Enhanced Learning)

TEL provide support to academic and professional services staff on teaching, learning design, assessment and feedback using the Blackboard Ultra VLE, and other digital teaching and learning tools. Support for students on the use of Blackboard is available through the TEL Support webpages.

Digital Research Computing

The Digital Research Computing Team provide academic computing support to researchers (staff and students) at the University of Reading. Training, online guides and more resources are available on the Academic Computing Team website to support with access to University research data storage, Linux computing platforms and other academic computing services. The team also run regular in-person training and drop-in sessions, which can be found in the training and drop-in calendar.

DTS (Digital Technology Services)

As well as the provision of digital infrastructure, the DTS Team provide online support through TopDesk and the online Knowledge Base, and an in-person enquiry desk in the Library. DTS can support staff and students with use of University devices for teaching and learning, access to software, and good cybersecurity practices.

Jisc Discovery Tool

Some programmes within Henley Business School have introduced Jisc’s Discovery Tool to help staff and students identify their digital competencies and development needs. Students are directed to a dedicated Blackboard area which signposts them to the resources and tools of the Jisc framework, and further online resources. Whilst the Jisc framework was introduced as a pilot with selected programmes there are plans for it to be implemented across the rest of the School.

LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning is a subscription resource providing online courses and videos on a range of IT tools ie. MS Office. It is available to staff and students at the University and some courses on certain applications are available through UoRLearn.

People Development

People Development offer online and in-person training aimed at all University Staff. The learning development platform UoRLearn includes links to in-person events and online courses on a range of topics including productivity, digital accessibility, and teaching and learning.
