My primary research interests include international trade theory and policy, globalisation and sustainable development, as well as inclusive teaching, learning, and student engagement in higher educationBackground
I am an experienced educator with over 38 years of teaching experience across several countries, including the UK, Sri Lanka, Dubai, and Japan. In addition to my teaching portfolio, I have held numerous senior academic and administrative roles in higher education. These include Curriculum Leader in Business and Economics, Module Coordinator, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Commerce (Business School), Head of the Department of Commerce, and Course Coordinator for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including MSc degree programmes.
I have been an Assessment Associate in Economics for the International Advanced Level (IAL) and GCE A Level qualifications with Edexcel Pearson for over 15 years.
My post-doctoral research focussed on regional integration, particularly in South Asia. My work on trade policy and South Asian regional integration has been widely cited, with over 33 citations, and recognised at various international forums and conferences, including MIT International Review, CPD Occasional Paper Series No. 61, CSGR Working Paper No. 218/07, German Development Institute’s Discussion Paper 11/2009, Commonwealth Secretariat reports, ESCAP, State Bank of Pakistan Annual Report (2005), and SBP Working Paper Series No. 23/2008.
