Employer Engagement
The Employer Engagement Team work proactively with a broad network of employers who are keen to engage with the University and recruit our talented students. Through a dynamic programme of both in-person and online events, we create valuable opportunities for students to connect directly with industry.
We also facilitate targeted engagement between employers and specific academic disciplines, helping to align recruitment activity with subject areas. If you're looking to strengthen employer involvement within your school or programme, we're here to support you in building meaningful, career-focused partnerships.
If you want to work closer with us or require some help sourcing employers for any of your sessions, please contact us at employers@reading.ac.uk
The team also manages the following schemes:
Reading Internship Scheme
The Reading Internship Scheme is the University of Reading's internship scheme; it's exclusive to University of Reading undergraduate students and gives them the opportunity to undertake paid internships with businesses.
The scheme runs throughout the year and you can find more information about it as well as direct your students to our RIS webpages.
If you have any questions, please email ris@reading.ac.uk
RED Awards
(RED Award, RED Sustainable Action Award, RED Global Engagement Award)
The Reading Experience and Development Awards are the University of Reading’s Official Skills Awards. They help your students to enhance their experience at the university whilst developing their skills and will give employers key examples of where they have put these skills into action.
The RED Awards are getting a refresh! Big changes are coming this September - stay tuned for updates over the summer.
If you have any queries regarding any of the RED Awards, please email red@reading.ac.uk.
THRIVE Mentoring

Students will have a minimum 1 hour meeting with their mentor per month for 3-9 months, where they can provide support and guidance for the students’ career plans and aspirations.
Thrive sign ups for 2025-26 will open in September and you can contact the team at mentoring@reading.ac.uk to discuss how you can best promote it to your students.
