Once you graduate from the MSci (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy course, you can apply for professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. This allows you to work as a speech and language therapist.
Our graduate employment rate is very high, and graduates are praised by local employers as critical, reflective practitioners.
100% of our leavers are in work and/or study 15 months after the end of their course (Higher Education Statistics Agency Graduate Outcomes, 2021).
Clinical placements give a breadth of experience to help you decide which area of speech and language therapy you wish to pursue when qualified.
You can go on to work as a speech and language therapist in a wide variety of settings including hospitals, the community, schools, colleges or the prison service.
Alternatively, you may decide to combine clinical practice and research with further postgraduate study.
Speech and language therapy is an extremely rewarding career and, whatever path you choose, you will work closely with your patients, their families and carers. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team which may include physiotherapists, doctors, nurses or teachers.
