HR Digital Systems Development
As part of the University’s Digital Strategy, work is underway to enhance and replace HR’s digital infrastructure.
iTrent, the current core HR and Payroll platform, will be optimised to deliver a better experience for colleagues using Employee Self Service (ESS) and Manager Self Service (MSS). This will allow us to improve processes for colleagues and managers, as well as for HR teams, to enable HR to be more responsive and efficient. In addition, some standalone platforms, such as Jobtrain, will be replaced with dedicated iTrent modules so managers and employees go to one system rather than logging into multiple HR systems. This will simplify the overall infrastructure and provide a single, consistent interface for key HR digital systems.
Further updates and information will be shared on this page as they become available.
UoRLearn:
We will be closing access to the current UoRLearn platform on the morning of Wednesday 4 February as part of planned upgrades, with colleagues asked to check if they have any part-completed modules before then.
The new UoRLearn platform with better integration and a refreshed look and feel will be available to all colleagues from midday on Monday 9 February.
During the transition period, colleagues will retain full access to their learning record, however are encouraged to download their learning record for future use in Performance and Development Reviews or for proof of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
To download your record from UoRLearn, follow the instructions under Useful documents. People Development and CQSD teams will continue to have access to archived information after the transition period.

iTrent Recruitment & Onboarding:
Our online staff recruitment platform is changing in March. We will be moving from the JobTrain recruitment platform, to iTrent Recruitment and Onboarding, with new adverts being posted on iTrent Recruitment from 16 March 2026. All colleagues with existing or planned recruitment campaigns are asked to keep the key deadlines outlined in the guidance for staff in mind.
The new integrated iTrent Recruitment system will offer a more seamless experience for hiring managers and an improved candidate journey.
For currently advertised roles, applications will continue to be advertised through JobTrain; however, all roles advertised through JobTrain will need to close by 08 March 2026. Please be aware of these deadlines if you are currently recruiting or about to start any recruitment.
Colleagues who have previously applied for roles on JobTrain may wish to download their applications for future reference as they will not be available to view on iTrent Recruitment.
Please contact recruitment@reading.ac.uk should you have any queries.
