The University has a strong commitment to employee health and wellbeing. We recognise that a good working environment can positively impact on the health and happiness of our staff and aim to provide a workplace that embraces inclusivity and flexibility and provides everyone with the opportunity to manage their time and their commitments in the best way that they can.

Wellbeing is commonly defined as the state of being comfortable, healthy and happy. Our wellbeing is influenced by many things including how we feel and function in our everyday lives. Looking after your own wellbeing is key to feeling good and functioning well.

Wellbeing at Work

There is strong evidence showing that work is good for physical and mental health and wellbeing.  This can lead to improving work/life quality and balance, to be healthier, happier and more successful as individuals and also to support employees through difficult times and ill health.  This link gives resource to help balance your wellbeing at work.

Taking steps to actively manage our own health is important and this link offers various topics and resources of interest.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

EAP is an independent, free, confidential support provided by the University which is run by CIC.

Wellbeing Peer Support

Wellbeing Peer Support is a network of trained University staff who are a first point of contact if you are experiencing a mental health issue, poor wellbeing or emotional distress.  This link will give you more details about who they are and how you can contact them.

5 Steps to Wellbeing

Looking after our mental wellbeing is important for all of us and making small changes in your life can improve your wellbeing.  This link will show how you can manage your wellbing whilst on campus, including our Wellbeing Campus map.
